Double Z – Dana & Bruce Zimmerman

Dana and Bruce (aka BZ) Zimmerman have been dubbed “Warriors” by friends in their local music community.  Preferring live music shows to many other leisure activities, they are regularly seen any night of the week in the clubs and venues of Central PA ( Harrisburg Metro,York, Lancaster), as well as those in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore/Northern MD, New York City, and D.C.  One of BZ’s most common quips is: “The great thing about Harrisburg is that you can always leave.”  Meaning, of course, that Harrisburg, where the couple reside, is well situated for travel to a multitude of locales where live music is available.  

Dana and BZ met in 1989 while working for the same truck rental company.  Daily talks on the phone to share details of truck inventory turned into lengthy discussions of pop culture, music and sharing recent experiences at live shows.  That led to in person discussions and live music experiences, and then eventually to an exchange of wedding vows in November of 1993.  

Both Dana and BZ developed a love of music and pop culture at an early age.  Dana admits to playing only passable guitar and piano, enough to accompany her voice- a more developed instrument.  A highlight in her singing career came in college, when she sang with The Pennsylvania State University Concert Choir accompanied by The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andre Previn.  BZ, on the other hand, has not been as involved in playing music as he is in savoring and collecting music.  As a result of browsing music stores, yard sales and flea markets, the Zimmerman’s music collection is chock full of CDs and vinyl of multiple genres and styles.

Bruce works in eCommerce for MSC Industrial Direct in Jonestown, PA.  Dana is sole proprietor of Bodymind Wellness Services, providing Integrative Therapies for Body, Mind and Spirit; including therapeutic bodywork, intuitive energy healing, nutrition counseling and cold laser therapy.  They share their home with Lili, Nigel, JimiJazz, Malcolm, and Vespa, their five feline “kids”, all adopted from the street, from shelters or rescues, or homes where they were unwanted.  Another BZ quip:  “We always get our cats  ‘used’.”
