(Harrisburg, PA) - Media Boomtown is proud to announce their second documentary film, “Sweet Rock: The Red Weasel Story”, will be released in early 2012!

“Sweet Rock” is the story of the Salisbury, MD-based band Red Weasel. Despite being nearly 3,000 miles away from Seattle (the “birthplace of Grunge”), Red Weasel developed a similar blend of rock and punk that would prove to be ahead of its time, and would later become the sound of the ‘90’s Alternative movement.

The documentary looks back at their early years and culminates in the lead-up to the band’s first show in 20 years. It includes new interviews, classic footage, as well as an interview with one of the founders of the D.C. Hardcore scene, Simon Jacobsen, who produced the band’s debut EP.

The film’s retail packaging is set to include many bonus features, including full performances from the reunion show, a track-by-track guide to the band’s “Rawlsdeeep” EP with producer, Simon Jacobsen, as well as a new remastered version of that debut EP.

“We went into this not being entirely sure of what we would find,” says co-producer Dan Almoney. “Ultimately, we found this to be a story about the strong bond that music can have not just within a band, but within a community. We believe that this is an important story to share.”

In order to help share that story, Media Boomtown is also announcing a campaign to help raise funds for entrance fees into film festivals, travel costs, and the remaining costs of packaging the film. The Kickstarter campaign can be found at
