Set to open soon, The Perfect 5th is a new music school in the Harrisburg area that will offer a wide variety of private lessons on instruments including voice, along with clinics and master classes. A “Rock School” will also be offered, along with classes on songwriting, theory, audio and video production and music business education. Selders, who has spent much of his career managing music acts, will be teaching classes and holding workshops on music business topics, as well as doing consultations with musicians and aspiring managers.
As Associate Director, Mr. Selders serves primarily as a consultant since his focus continues to be artist management. But with the recent break-up of his main band, the timing was good for this. “I’ve always wanted to get more involved with teaching and mentoring, but I’ve been too busy to dedicate much time to it,” said Selders. “There are many talented & deserving musicians out there who need management help, but they aren’t at a level where they can attract the right manager. I see musicians making the same mistakes over and over. I want to help artists avoid those mistakes, offer some real-world solutions and add focus to their careers.”
Perfect 5th Director, Eric Wirsing, is thrilled to have Selders on board. “Terry is a valuable addition to the instructional and administrative staff of The Perfect 5th Musical Arts Center. His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm have already paid off in helping us to achieve some of our early goals. I look forward to him being an important part of this school realizing its full potential.”
Although they have not officially opened yet, some private lessons and consultations are now being offered. Visit ThePerfect5th.com to see what is currently available. Look for an announcement next Wednesday (8/3) of a major musical event that will kick off the grand opening in late September.
The band that Terry most recently managed was Wilkes-Barre’s Pan.a.ce.a. He released three of their recordings on his label. He was just informed by the distributor that for several months early this year, Pan.a.ce.a was in their top 10 of digital sales, a major accomplishment considering that Burnside Distribution Corp. handles about 700 labels.
Mr. Selders will be making a few public appearances at the end of the summer. On August 31 he will be on the panel of judges for WZZO’s Backyard Bands competition in Allentown, PA. Then on September 4 he will be sitting on the manager’s panel at the Steamtown Original Music Showcase in Scranton, PA.
A new website for Susquehanna Entertainment is currently under construction and should be up by the end of the week. The old site is still available at susent.com, but the most updated bio for Terry can now be found on The Perfect 5th’s site.
