SUNRISE ON AVENUE C EARNS JAMES MADDOCK TOP HONORS

“IMPECCABLY CRAFTED” ( – Philadelphia Inquirer) SUNRISE ON AVENUE C  EARNS JAMES MADDOCK TOP HONORS FOR CRITICS LISTS OF 2009

AVAILABLE NOW DIGITALLY, PHYSICAL RELEASE TBA 2010

“James Maddock’s talent has a timeless quality… his music touches the soul.” –      Vin Scelsa, Host of WFUV and Sirius/XM’s “Idiot’s Delight”

NEW YORK, NY – Nearly ten years after his major label debut Songs from Stamford Hill put him on the map, James Maddock is once again critics choice with his “impeccably crafted” (-Philadelphia Inquirer) Sunrise On Avenue C, currently available digitally on Ascend Records.

Vin Scelsa, host of WFUV and Sirius/XM’s “Idiot’s Delight” enthused, “I fell head over heels in love with James Maddock’s music around the turn of the century… [Sunrise On Avenue C] picks up right where Stamford Hill left off. How happy am I to have him back on the radar screen… the world at large needs artists like this.”

Since its digital release in August 2009, Sunrise On Avenue C has steadily gained momentum into the New Year, landing on notable “Best of 2009” lists such as tastemakers Mike Marrone (Sirius/XM Radio’s “The Loft”), Rita Houston (WFUV), and WXPN (#43 on the “Top 50 of the Year”).

Boston Herald critic AL Kooper ranked “Chance” #5 on his Top 50 “Cream of ’09 Music Crop”: “He’s young, English and living in New York City. This is a track Springsteen wishes he had in his arsenal: a great song, arrangement and vocal all in one. As catchy as catchy can be.”

In a recent feature, Philadelphia Inquirer critic Nick Cristano praised, “impeccably crafted pop – down-to-earth yet elegant with its occasional use of strings – is full of strong melodies and subtle dynamics.”

Sunrise on Avenue C will be released physically in 2010 with distribution TBA.

James will perform live on“World Café” (NPR) on February 2 as well as WFUV (TBA) and tape a “Loft Session” for Sirius/XM radio.
