With those dreams inside your mind” -Run Away
Imagine Dave Matthews mixed with John Mayer and you have the Billy Bauer Band hailing from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. After reading his father’s last words to him: “Billy keep playing guitar – you sound pretty good,” vocalist Billy Bauer made it his life to chase his musical dreams.

Billy Bauer (acoustic/vocals), Chris Lorenzetti (electric violin/ piano), Cody Hamlin (bass), and Drew Somers (drums) have been creating music together since 2006. Their unique sound and positively amazing lyrics catch you singing before you even know all the words. “Everything in life inspires my writing,” Billy states when I asked them how the words and music blended to create their original tunes. Billy uses the lyrics of his songs to tell stories, share experiences, and even vent his own issues. The band has compiled two albums of their original work: Best of Both Worlds and Another Day is Coming.
“I never thought I would be a musician,” Billy explains and finds the appreciation by fans of their original songs to be one of the most rewarding experiences. Musicians and bands often face a challenge in hectic schedules, a fight the Billy Bauer Band is no stranger to. Their struggles have not been without success however. The Band won the Philadelphia region of the Original Sessions Nation Band Search in 2006, followed by their single “55” reaching number 2 on Garageband.com’s acoustic charts and also four nominations for the 2007 Lehigh Valley Music Awards, including Best Album for Another Day is Coming, Best Song for “55,” Best Male Vocals, and Best String Player. In the past spring and summer, the band opened for Uncle Kracker in Allentown, Pa, and for Pete Francis. The Billy Bauer Band, big advocators for cancer research, was also recognized by PA State Senator Lisa Boscola for their contributions to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
The Billy Bauer Band has performed in venues and at festivals all over Pennsylvania. They helped raise the $7.8 million dollars this past year at Penn State’s THON to fund the fight against pediatric cancer. They will be performing at Musikfest in August in Bethlehem where they hope to promote their new album and single.
Their sound is crisp and refreshing, holding stories we can’t help but think about and relate to. The sound created by their unique blend of instruments has sucked me into their words and songs, I now know every word. The most important part of their music to them and the reason why I like them so much is… the originality!
