CAN’T STAY AWAY: THE SOBRIQUETS RETURN TO HARRISBURG AND THE 2010 MILLENNIUM MUSIC CONFERENCE
February, 2010 (Philadelphia, PA) Philadelphia based band The Sobriquets will return to the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA for the second year in a row. They will be playing on Friday, February 19th 2010 at the Field House in Etters, PA at 9pm with Bryan James Gatten Band, Atom Strange and New Day Dawn. The Millennium Music Conference runs from February 18-21,2010, with the main conference events happening at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center in Camp Hill, PA. The music showcases will happen at multiple venues around the greater Harrisburg area.
The Sobriquets first played in Harrisburg during 2009’s Millennium Music Conference at The Local Beat in New Cumberland, PA, which was also the club’s grand opening night. Playing to a packed house of conference attendees and industry insiders, the show not only introduced The Sobriquets to Central PA but also began a close relationship between the band and the owner of The Local Beat, Joe Vandall. The Sobriquets would return to The Local Beat twice more in 2009, playing with Vandall’s band Los Locals, as well as other regional acts.
Their appearance at Millennium Music Conference will also continue the working relationship between the band and the conferences organizers, as The Sobriquets have also appeared at the Cape May Singer Songwriter Festival in 2008, 2009 and are scheduled to appear at the 2010 festival as well. Both festivals are organized and curated by Millennium Music in Harrisburg, PA.
Formed in 2007 from the ashes of singer James Hearne and guitarist Dan Drago’s previous band, The Sobriquets have been performing throughout the Mid-Atlantic region since then, delighting audiences in Philadelphia, New York City, Boston and Baltimore, as well as many other areas. They are a four-piece group, consisting of Hearne and Drago on guitars, as well as bassist Joshua Neale and drummer Nicklas Hughes. The band combines the rootsy, Americana sounds of bands like Wilco and the Tragically Hip with soaring three part harmonies and a singer-songwriter approach to lyrics and melody. They have recorded and self-released two records since their inception: 2008s The Sobriquets and 2009’s The Sobriquets Are Out of Style, both of which are available at CDBaby.com, iTunes and many other online retailers. The band offers free downloads of tracks from these releases as well as unreleased material at their website, TheSobriquets.com. Their EPK is available for perusal at www.sonicbids.com/thesobriquets.
