The Jellybricks – Goodnight to Everyone

The Jellybricks – 2008 Release “ Goodnight to Everyone”

Review by Sherry Marchefsky

February 2011

Recently I asked myself “Where are the bands of today that have that 90’s sound like Gin Blossoms, Fuel & Third Eye Blind?” It seems that an emo-dance-pop sound is dominating the Top 100 airways of the last few years, and when I first listened to The Jellybricks’ new album, Goodnight to Everyone, I smiled. Here it is! That feel-good-sun-on your-face-car-windows down rock I listened to throughout my high school years.

Goodnight to Everyone is The Jellybricks’ 4th album. Starting collaboration in 1997, Larry Kennedy, Garrick Chow, Bryce Connor and Tom Kristich came onto the scene with a debut album and a hit single “Who is God”, that landed them national radio play. That recognition enabled The Jellybricks to open for touring bands such as LIVE, Goo Goo Dolls & Bare Naked Ladies.

The Jellybricks are based out of Mechanicsburg, Pa. They are represented by The RTE Group out of Central PA. reviewed their music video for “Ruin us”, the 2nd track off Goodnight to Everyone, calling it the “…first viral video of ‘09”.

Every song on this album is a good song. Not too many artists have the capability to pull off a solid collection. I think The Jellybricks did it with this one. They chose multiple studios to record and mix the album. 20/20 Music as well as Size Change Production and Stress Free Studios came together to form this latest release. My favorite song off the album is “Nobody Else”, which I can definitely hear playing in the background of a movie like “Empire Records”. The instrumentation on this album is even and well-thought out and the harmonies are perfectly placed. You could hear any song off this album on the radio, they are all well written.

For the past 12 years, The Jellybricks have maintained their sound. They have grown from all their hard work and experiences both in the studio and on the road. They have seasoned their skills to compose a CD that makes you feel happy and glad to be alive… windows down.
